Twin Lakes Church Hosting Community Gathering On Mental Health
Friday afternoon will feature 7 workshops on various mental health and addiction topics.

From TLC:Twin Lakes Church in Aptos is hosting it’s 3rd annual Community Gathering on Mental Health, Friday and Saturday, October 12 & 13.
TLC is offering this event to educate and increase awareness, recognizing that everyone, whether through friends, family members or even on a more personal level, will be affected at some time in their lives by addiction and mental illness.
Friday afternoon will feature 7 workshops on various mental health and addiction topics, presented by local mental health professionals.

The Friday Workshop topics are: Addiction Intervention, Anxiety, Dual Diagnosis, Sleep Deprivation and Mental Health, Depression, Lay Counseling, The Mental Health Recovery Process.
Friday evening will feature Ryan Leaf in the main auditorium telling of his struggle and subsequent recovery from opioid addiction. After being a top draft choice as quarterback by the San Diego Chargers, he saw his life destroyed by addiction, resulting in a suicide attempt and imprisonment. Behind bars he found his path to recovery, to health and to new purpose.

Saturday will be an all-day conference with numerous keynote speakers, workshop presenters, community leaders and relevant exhibits.
Saturday Workshop topics include: Psychological Crises and Hospitalization, The Family and Mental Illness, Addiction Issues, Grief After Suicide, Suicide Prevention, Bipolar Disorder, NAMI of Santa Cruz, SC Mental Health Board Q & A, Dementia, Depression, “Right Thinking”, Anxiety, ADHD.
There are at least 30 highly qualified speakers and presenters at this conference including: Ryan Leaf, Michael Fitzgerald, Dr. Susan Auerbach, Susan Rueb, Veronica and Devin Eckhardt, Carrie Luther, Dr. Vanessa de la Cruz, Dr. Jill Shannan, Dr. Stephen Ramondino, Dr. Catherine Borchert, Dr. Elizabeth Landsverk, and Carol Williamson.
This event will take place on the campus of Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive in Aptos.
