When is the First Day of School in Capitola and Soquel?

Of course, the calendar just flipped over to August and families are smack in the middle of enjoying summer vacations. 

But, back-to-school commercials hawking new clothes are already being shown on TV and that time of year is really just around the corner. 

So, even though you are most likely still heading to the beach and pool, soaking up those rays of summer, here are some important things to know when it comes to the Soquel Union Elementary School District's 2013-14 calendar.

• First Day of School: Wednesday, Aug. 28
• New Student Orientation: 10-11 a.m. Aug. 22 at New Brighton Middle School

For Soquel High students, there is a lot coming up.

• First Day of School: Wednesday, Aug. 28
• Schedule Pick-Up and School Picture Day: Monday, Aug. 19 (freshmen at 8 a.m., sophomore at 9:15 a.m., juniors at 10:30 a.m. and seniors at 11:45 a.m.)
• Freshman and new student orientation: Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 8 a.m., finishing with a BBQ from 12-1 p.m.
• 9th Grade/New Parent Information Evening: Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 6:30-8 p.m.
