2020 Census: Meeting Set At National Latino Research Center
Organizers at today's meeting will discuss where hard-to- reach populations live and how best to include them in the census count.
VISTA, CA – Cal State San Marcos' National Latino Research Center will hold a meeting Wednesday to discuss preparations for next year's U.S. Census to ensure that everyone is counted.
According to the NLRC, various demographics are at risk of falling to the wayside when the census is taken every 10 years due to multiple factors. Language barriers, mistrust of the government, security concerns and a lack of traditional living arrangements can all lead to difficulties in making an accurate census count.
With the meeting, the NLRC hopes to draft an idea of where hard-to- reach populations live and how best to include them in the census count. Such demographics include racial and ethnic minorities, households with limited English language proficiency, residents who move frequently and residents living in inaccessible areas like gated communities and multifamily units.
