Acorn Woodpecker In North County: Photo Of The Day

OCEANSIDE, CA — Patch reader Bob Thompson captured this photo Wednesday of an acorn woodpecker at Guajome Regional Park in Oceanside.
"These bird are hoarders," Thompson said. "They stuff a ridiculous amount of acorns in the holes they peck into both dead and live trees, storing up for a future food fest."
