Carlsbad Girl Scout Troop Seeks Help With Donations
Troop 1942 is looking to support the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego and other local community organizations.

CARLSBAD, CA — A local Girl Scout troop in Carlsbad is seeking donations to support the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego and other local community organizations as they work toward earning the Bronze Award, the third highest honor a Girl Scout can earn.
Girl Scout Troop 1942 has been together for five years and started in kindergarten. The troop is collecting items and money for welcome bags to provide to families checking into the Ronald McDonald House. They are also supporting foster children at Straight From The Heart in San Marcos with birthday bags and giving art kits to at-risk children at Casa De Amparo in Vista.
"I'm so proud of them,” Tracy Faris, a mother of one of the girls, told CBS8. “I am so happy they picked kids because they are a great group of girls, they have so much fun together, but they have a lot of love to give.”

The Ronald McDonald House provides support to families with hospitalized children. The troop is hosting a virtual drive that began Feb. 1 and runs through Mar. 12 to collect donations for the house.
Faris said in an email to Patch that the fifth grade girls aren’t all in the same school anymore but “this troop remains strong.”
