The Carlsbad High School Vocal Music Program presents: A Night with the Stars - Carlsbad on Broadway!

February 2nd & 3rd at the Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center

Carlsbad High School’s award-winning choirs will perform a variety of Broadway show tunes at this year’s Night with the Stars benefit concert. The evening begins at 7pm with a medley of songs from "Phantom of the Opera.” Student created pieces include music from Rent, Hamilton, and Fun Home. A Night with the Stars also gives audiences a chance to preview this year’s competitive show choir sets. “Sets” are mini musicals that tell a story through strong vocals, intricate choreography and costuming. Encore, the women’s intermediate show choir will perform their set entitled “Indiana Jane.” Sound Express, the advanced mixed show choir, will perform their set, “Time Machine.” These pieces will be performed in competitions at schools throughout Southern California in the coming months.

A Night with the Stars also features special guest performances by the middle school show choirs. On Thursday, February 2nd Valley Middle School’s “Showstoppers” will perform their “Wizard of Oz” set. On Friday, February 3rd Calavera Middle School’s “Sound Sensations” will perform their “Willy Wonka” set. Carlsbad High School’s Jazz Band will perform on both nights.

Advanced reserved seating tickets are $15 online and at the box office. Purchase tickets online at http://www.itsmyseat.com/CHSCh... through 1/31/17. Student (K-12), faculty, and staff tickets are $7 with ID at the box office only. The box office opens one hour prior to each show.

The Carlsbad High School Vocal Music Program is made up of four choirs: Chamber Singers (advanced mixed choir), Sound Express (advanced mixed show choir), Encore (intermediate women’s show choir), and Lancer Choir (beginning mixed choir). This program is one of the few remaining programs in all of San Diego County. It strives to promote awareness, appreciation, and expression of the arts in our community.

Proceeds from this concert benefit all four choirs and help offset the costs of sheet music, competition fees, vocal clinicians, costumes, choreographers, and so much more. In addition to an excellent evening of entertainment, A Night with the Stars is a way for students and the community to help keep this exceptional program going strong.
