Carlsbad’s 'Cabinet of Curiosities' Exhibit Closes Jan. 8

CARLSBAD, CA – There's still time to journey into Carlsbad's world of curiosities.
The art exhibit, "Cabinet of Curiosities: Deborah Davidson and Christopher Polentz," is open through Jan. 8 at Cannon Art Gallery in Carlsbad.
Cabinets of curiosities came about in mid-sixteenth century Europe as repositories for all manner of wondrous and exotic objects. With subjects ranging from portraits and memorabilia to oddities taken from and inspired by the natural and imaginary world, the featured pieces by Southern California artists Deborah Davidson and Christopher Polentz include paintings, assemblage and installation.

Operated by the city of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office, the William D. Cannon Art Gallery is located at the Carlsbad City Library at 1775 Dove Lane. The gallery is open to the public 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
