Carlsbad Verizon Store Robbed at Gunpoint: Police

Three suspects were reportedly involved in the alleged crime.

CARLSBAD, CA — Three men reportedly robbed a Carlsbad cellphone store at gunpoint Monday night, but got away before police arrived.

According to Carlsbad police Sgt. Greg White, two men entered the Verizon store at 880 Carlsbad Village Drive at about 7:23 p.m. Monday.

One of the suspects displayed a handgun and ordered three employees to the back storeroom area, while a third man joined the first two and loaded an undetermined number of cellphones into a bag, the sergeant said.

"The employees were ordered to lay on the floor and the three males fled the area in an unknown direction of travel before officers arrived," White said.

This robbery investigation is ongoing.

The suspects were described as three black men between 20 and 30 years old.

The first was around 6 feet 3 inches tall, appeared to weigh about 240 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.

The second suspect was around 6 feet 1 inch tall, appeared to weigh about 190 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The third suspect of unknown height and weight was wearing a black jacket.

"The suspects fled the business on foot, and at this time there is no known associated vehicle," White said.
