VISTA, CA — As part of its revolving "No Kid Hungry Campaign," Dog Haus has tapped celebrity mixologist Phil Wills, a "Bar Rescue" regular, to create two specialty cocktails to benefit the nonprofit as part of the restaurant's Mixologist Collaboration.

"Secret Garden" and "Foolish Games" will be on Dog Haus Biergarten menus, including in Vista, through April 30, with $1 from each drink sold going to the charity partner.

“Dog Haus is such an incredible brand to work with because they are fearless in their approach to create new menu items,” said Wills, a co-founder of Los Angeles-based, beverage consultants The Spirits in Motion. “Having freedom during creation results in a seriously delicious drink. Plus, the fact that a portion of the proceeds from these cocktails goes to such an incredible organization makes it that much better.”

Pasadena-based Dog Haus, known for its creative hot dogs, sausages, burgers and its "Bad Mutha Clucka" sandwich, was founded by friends in Pasadena in 2010. In its stated purpose as "a brand who gives back," Dog Haus established a partnership with No Kid Hungry, an organization focused on ending childhood hunger. As part of its Chef Collaboration Series, also benefiting the charity, the restaurant features specialty dishes on a monthly-or-so basis, created by top-name industry veterans. In February, Dog Haus debuted the "Tot Dog," from Michelin-starred Chef Anthony Sasso.

Kicking off Dog Haus’ 2020 Mixologist Collaboration are Wills' two concoctions.

Secret Garden combines grapefruit, lime juice, orange juice, agave syrup, sparkling white wine and soda water into a slightly sweet and bitter cocktail garnished with fresh rosemary.

Foolish Games is a tequila cocktail with a fruit and floral flavor blend accented by hints of spice, and blends tequila blanco, raspberry, hibiscus, watermelon, lime, agave syrup, orange bitters, black pepper; salt rim, orange slice and lime garnish. Foolish Games is only available at Biergarten locations with full bars.

Dog Haus’ Mixologist Collaboration will continue throughout the year with cocktails created by bar specialsists Rob Floyd, LisaMarie Joyce and Mia Mastroianni, according to the company.

"We are happy to have Phil kick off this year’s series and look forward to what the other kick-ass mixologists come up with in 2020," said Dog Haus partner André Vener. “Guests love getting the opportunity to try exclusive cocktails created by celebrity bar experts that would otherwise be hard for them to find.”
