The La Costa Resort and Spa will soon have a new owner.

Omni Hotels announced Wednesday that it bought the Carlsbad resort, along with the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage and three other properties.

The Irving, Texas-based hotel company said in a statement it will take over the five properties from KSL Capital Partners at the beginning of next month. No financial terms were disclosed.

"Each of these properties is unique in its own right -- rich in heritage and distinctive in their elegance and charm," said Mike Deitemeyer, president of the hotel chain.

"We would be fortunate to own and operate any single one of these celebrated resorts," Deiemeyer said. "By purchasing all five of these properties, Omni has significantly enhanced our growing Resort Collection in terms of scope, scale and prestige."

Omni already has a hotel in downtown San Diego.

The La Costa Resort -- with 611 guest rooms, suites and villas -- just underwent a $50-million facelift, according to Omni. It has an adults-only pool, an expanded athletic club, two redesigned golf courses, a 43,000-square-foot spa and restaurants.

The other newly purchased properties are the Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C., and The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.
