A Love Letter To Beth Myers
This San Francisco Giants player proposed to his wife just one week after graduating college.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Jeff Myers’ love story about his wife, Beth:
“Beth and I met the summer before our senior year of high school. We were both at a drive-in movie theater together, but were there for different reasons. Either way, we ended up sitting next to each other in my car that night. Well, that is how it all started. I drove a few folks home that night, but dropped Beth off last.
So, you see where this is going, right? Beth and I are high school sweethearts! Beth was supposed to attend a college in Los Angeles, while I attended Pepperdine University on a baseball scholarship. With help from her family, I moved her into her freshman dorms at Loyola Marymount. Well, Beth didn’t attend classes at Loyola Marymount, due to feeling homesick and maybe a bit boyfriend sick (not sure if this is true).

Beth attended a local junior college that semester and ultimately ended up transferring up to Pepperdine. That was a good thing for sure. I am not sure we would be together to this day if that were not the case. Beth and I had agreed all along that we wouldn’t get married until we both had our college degrees. Well, Beth finished her college degree pretty fast and I ended up being drafted by the San Francisco Giants after my junior year at Pepperdine when we won the College World Series.
So, I really messed up the timing. I ultimately took classes at Pepperdine between seasons while playing in the Giants organization. We ended up getting married the week after I graduated from Pepperdine. Could you tell that we were ready and excited?

Beth and I have been married for over 24 years. I love her more now than I have ever loved her. She has blessed me with four beautiful kids (Kylie, 22, Ashley, 20, Jensen, 18, and Logan, 15). She is an amazing mother, an even better spouse/lover. I would honestly not be half of the person that I am today, if it weren’t for Beth. Beth Myers, I love you with all of my heart, all of my soul and all of my body. You complete me.
Oh, by the way, I fell in love with her dad first. Larry Smith was a giant of a man! Larry Smith I love you too, R.I.P.”
