Rubio's Offers $6 Deal For National Fish Taco Day

SAN DIEGO, CA —Where better to celebrate National Fish Taco Day this year than at Rubio's Coastal Grill — the San Diego-based restaurant chain credited with putting the "holiday" on the calendar.

To mark the occasion, Rubio's is offering its "Coastal Trio Plate," a three-taco, $6 deal Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25, at its California locations. The special features three tacos: the Original Fish Taco; the Wild-Caught Mahi Mahi Taco; and the Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco.

To redeem the offer, customers must show this coupon when ordering.

National Fish Taco Day technically falls on Jan. 25, as a tribute to Rubio's founder Ralph Rubio's launch of his Original Fish Taco on Jan. 25, 1983 at the company's first, walk-up stand in San Diego's Mission Bay, according to the National Day Archive.

Today, Rubio’s has grown to nearly 200 restaurants, and its menu has expanded to include a variety of grilled seafood including responsibly sourced shrimp, wild-caught Alaska salmon and pollock and wild-caught mahi mahi. As part of its mission, the business encourages patrons to eat seafood twice a week to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke, based on the American Heart Association’s recommendation, according to management.
