San Diego Tennis Team Wins In Florida
The San Diego Aviators are scheduled to play their home opener Friday at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.
CARLSBAD, CA – The San Diego Aviators won all five sets, including two in tiebreakers, as they concluded their four-day, four-match season-opening road trip with a 25-15 victory over the Orlando Storm Wednesday evening in a World TeamTennis match at Lake Nona, Florida.
Under WTT rules, if a set is tied, 4-4, it is decided by a nine-point tiebreaker. In the match's second set, the Aviators women's doubles team of Christina McHale and Anna-Lena Groenefeld needed a tiebreaker to complete a 5-4 victory over 2017 U.S. Open singles finalist Madison Keys and Darija Jurak.
In the final set, men's singles, Ryan Harrison won in a tiebreaker to complete a 5-4 victory over Feliciano Lopez at the U.S. Tennis Association National Campus.

Groenefeld and Jonny O'Mara defeated Jurak and Ken Skupski, 5-2, in the match's opening set, mixed doubles.
Harrison and O'Mara defeated Lopez and Skupski, 5-2, in the third set, men's doubles.

McHale defeated Keys, 5-3, in women's singles.
The match was supposed to be played outdoors, but moved indoors because of rain.
The Aviators went 3-1 on the road trip. They are scheduled to play their home opener Friday against the Las Vegas Rollers at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.
