The wrong-way driver survived moderate injuries.

OAKLAND, CA — A young man was arrested following a fatal SUV crash early Monday morning on Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland, California Highway Patrol officials said.
At 12:30 a.m., CHP officers tried to stop a black Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 580 at Fruitvale Avenue because they believed it was traveling at an unsafe speed and apparently had no license plates.
But the SUV's driver, identified as 30-year-old Oakland man Deville Daggs, allegedly sped away and CHP officers began pursuing him. At MacArthur Boulevard, Daggs got off the freeway and then allegedly drove back on heading west in the eastbound lanes. CHP officers called off their pursuit.
