When the work is underway, riders can expect delays of between 20 and 40 minutes.

HAYWARD, CA — BART will postpone the beginning of scheduled track work at the Hayward station from this weekend to next month, an agency spokesman said Monday.

The project will now begin the weekend of Aug. 1 and 2 and train service will continue as normal this weekend.

The track replacement project is scheduled to last five weekends over two months and will affect BART traffic between the Bay Fair and South Hayward stations.

After the Aug. 1-2 weekend closure, BART will continue track work at the Hayward station during the weekends of Aug. 22-23, Sept. 5-7, Sept. 19-20 and Oct. 3-4.

The project is similar to a track project the agency recently completed at the Orinda station, which included the replacement of track components like rock ballast, track switches and wooden ties.
