OAKLAND, CA — All lanes of the westbound Interstate Highway 580 connector ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 80 and the Bay Bridge in Oakland have reopened Tuesday morning after a big-rig caught fire and caused a big traffic backup, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big-rig carrying cooking oil was first reported to be on fire at 5:16 a.m. in the far right lane of the ramp, CHP officials said.

The far left lane reopened as of shortly after 7 a.m. and all lanes reopened by shortly after 9 a.m., according to the CHP.

Early in the closure, under the direction of the CHP, cars had to turn around and go in the wrong direction to get out from behind the big rig.
