Castro Valley School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Castro Valley is August 22. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Castro Valley Unified School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/22: First Day of School

October

• 10/3 - 10/5: Grades K-5 Minimum Day
• 10/6: Grades K-5 No School (Student Advisement Conference)
• 10/26: Grades 6-8 Minimum Day
• 10/27: Grades 6-8 No School (Student Advisement Conference)

November

• 11/10: No School (Labor Day)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/25 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
• 1/16 - 1/18: Grades 9-12 Minimum Day
• 1/18 - 1/9: Grades 6-8 Minimum Day
• 1/19: Grades 9-12 No School (Student Advisement Conference)

February

• 2/1 - 2/2: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)
