Chabot College VP Of Academic Services Honored By CCCCIO

Dr. Stacy Thompson was honored with the Carter Doran Leadership Award by the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers.

(Hayward, CA) - Chabot College vice president of academic services Dr. Stacy Thompson was recently honored with the Carter Doran Leadership Award by the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers (CCCCIO). Dr. Jennifer Vega La Serna, CCCCIO President, noted Dr. Thompson's involvement, leadership, and dedication to her various roles impacting both Chabot College and the entire California Community College system.

Thompson currently holds the position of president of the Western Region Council on Black American Affairs (WRBCCA), serving on the board for eight years. On the national level, she is vice president of programs for the National Council on Black American Affairs (NCBAA) and is a founding member of the Black Education Association at Chabot College. As an active member of the higher education community at the state level, she serves on the Chief Instructional Officer (CIO) Executive Committee representing Region 3, and serves on the Board of Directors of the California Community Colleges Athletic Association (CCCAA).

This year, a total of three CIOs received the annual honor.

"These incredible CIOs have exemplified courageous leadership and embody the spirit of the Carter Doran CIO Leadership award," said Vega La Serna. "They have led with heart, demonstrated creativity, shown sustained commitment to addressing instructional challenges, and together have made a profound impact on a college and/or professional organization."

Thompson was additionally recognized for showing her incredible and sustained commitment to addressing instructional challenges, recently sharing innovative programming and data from Chabot Colleges Black excellence 10x10 community; the Chabot College response to transforming campus and classroom climate, which will have a profound impact on the 2000 black students at Chabot with 100 volunteer leaders.

"It is a great honor to receive the Carter Doran Leadership award from my CIO colleagues," said Dr. Thompson. "I am both humbled and proud to be recognized in this way. It has truly been an emotional week."
