Dancers from Castro Valley Studio Featured on 'Dance Moms' Episode

An episode of the popular reality television show was taped in Dublin.

DUBLIN, CA — A Castro Valley dance studio participated in a dance competition taped in Dublin for the popular “Dance Moms” reality television show. About 30-40 students from Michelle’s Dance X-Plosion in Castro Valley competed at the Sheer Talent dance competition, which was taped at the Dublin High Performing Arts Center last spring.

Studio owner Michelle Barrios of Castro Valley said it was an interesting experience. According to Barrios, there was a large turnout of people who paid to watch the competition. Barrios said the students from the Los Angeles-based Abby Lee Dance Company, who are the focus of the reality television show, performed two numbers during the competition.

“It was an awesome experience to be able to compete,” Barrios told Patch.

Barrios said the Dance X-Plosion dancers won in every category they competed in and had the highest score of the day for the entire competition.

The dancers at Dance X-Plosion have waited for months to watch the show and were released from dance class early Tuesday night to watch the episode. The show aired Sept. 20. Watch the full episode here.
