Fallen Horse Rescued Using Heavy Equipment

EAST SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA — What happens when a 29-year-old horse falls and he can't get up? His owner calls for help.
And help arrived in the form of the Hayward Fire Department, East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department, Alameda County Sheriff Animal Control, a local veterinarian and a heavy equipment operator.
The cold and exhausted horse was safely lifted to his feet. After an assessment found that he was not injured, the horse immediately began to eat grass.
