Foul Play Believed to Cause Two Grass Fires on Wednesday

Firefighters put out two grass fires on Wednesday.

Two Castro Valley grass fires that broke out on Wednesday night are currently under investigation, authorities said.

Both fires happened less that an hour of each other, and were only a few blocks apart.

The first grass fire was reported at the area of Walnut and Almond just before 6 p.m., according to Alameda County Fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles. Fire crews were able to quickly put out the blaze.

Crews were then dispatched to a house fire down the street to the 17000 block of Almond Road at 6:48 p.m., said Knowles.

Upon arrival, crews found a brush fire — not a house fire. They were also able to put this fire out quickly.
