Hayward Police Seek Deadly Hit-And-Run Driver

Police say "the suspect vehicle drove around the woman in the street and fled."

HAYWARD, CA — Hayward police are searching for the driver of an SUV that fatally struck a homeless woman Saturday night.

A passing motorist, who saw the woman walking south in between two traffic lanes on Huntwood Avenue near Zephyr Avenue about 8 p.m., "slowed and began flashing his high-beams," police said.

Someone driving a light-colored 2005 Ford Explorer drove past the motorist, striking and killing the woman.
