Hiring Event Friday: Postal Service

EAST BAY — Would you like to work for the post office?

The United States Postal Service's Bay-Valley district will hold a hiring event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Friday at the Shannon Community Center, 11600 Shannon Ave., in Dublin.

Jobs include mail carriers, city carrier assistants, auto mechanics, tractor trailer operators, motor vehicle operators, clerks, and more.

Applicants must be prepared with a photo ID, a valid driver's license with two years driving experience and a Social Security Card or birth certificate. Men must also have a Selective Service registration number.

Veterans should bring their DD214 for veterans' preference.

New career hires start with excellent benefits, including coverage by the Federal Employee Retirement System, under which they can contribute to a Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a 401(k) plan, and get a 5 percent matching contribution by the Postal Service.
