I-580 Crash Caused Major Delay On BART Wednesday

The problem was just east of the Castro Valley BART station.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — BART experienced major delays during the morning commute Wednesday because of a car crash off of Interstate Highway 580 that damaged fencing and blocked the BART trackway just east of the Castro Valley station.

The debris caused trains to single-track between the Bay Fair and Dublin/Pleasanton stations, creating delays, BART spokeswoman Anna Duckworth said.

The delay was first reported shortly before 6 a.m. Normal service was restored by 12:30 p.m.
