Hayward police said it doesn't appear that foul play was involved in the death of a 56-year-old transient man who was found unresponsive in a friend's front yard early Christmas morning.
     Â
The friend found the man on a couch in the front yard of his home in the 2400 block of Silva Avenue early Wednesday morning and took him to a hospital, where officials called police at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Eric Melendez said.
     Â
Hospital officials pronounced the man dead, according to Melendez.
     Â
The Alameda County coroner's bureau conducted an autopsy on the man today but there were no signs of trauma and no indication that foul play was involved, Melendez said.
     Â
Coroner's investigators will now conduct additional tests to try to determine his cause of death, Melendez said.
     Â
He said police have had contact with the man in the past.
     Â
Authorities aren't yet releasing his name, Melendez said.
