Pedestrian Killed By Amtrak Train In Hayward

HAYWARD, CA — One person was killed Monday afternoon when an Amtrak train hit a person in Hayward, an Amtrak spokesperson said.

The collision happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. when a Capitol Corridor train heading from Sacramento to San Jose struck a pedestrian, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau is not releasing the victim's name yet.

No one on the train was injured, Magliari said.

Passengers were taken by charter bus to their destination, he said.
