Police Search For At-Risk Elderly Man

Hayward police are asking for the public's assistance in locating an elderly man with dementia and diabetes who went missing Thursday afternoon, officers said.

Edward Moore, 77, was last seen at his residence in the 500 block of Sequoia Road in North Hayward around 4:30 p.m., police said.

Police said Edward takes medication for both dementia and diabetes. He has never walked away unattended and is said to easily get shortness of breath from walking.

Officers said Edward may have been seen at the downtown Hayward BART station and it is possible that he will go to East Oakland, where he used to live.

He is a black man standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray hair, police said.

Edward has medium complexion and a tattoo on his left forearm, officers said.

According to officers, Edward was last seen wearing a green shirt, camouflage shorts, white socks and sandals.
