'Ride Along' With Castro Valley CHP Commander Via Twitter

Ride with the California Highway Patrol -- without leaving your couch.

Tonight from 4 pm to 10 pm, California Highway Patrol Commander Christopher Sherry of Castro Valley will broadcast a "virtual ride-a-long” on Twitter.

For six hours it will be like sitting in the front seat with a CHP officer on patrol. 

"(People) from throughout the Bay Area will see photos and read about events as they are developing,” Sherry said.

Friday's event will be the first time a CHP Commander has gone on patrol and provided a glimpse into the Department's day-to-day operations via Twitter.

Use the hashtag #chpvra to search for Sherry's tweets. 

In addition to updates on emergency incidents and traffic stops, Sherry will broadcast educational information and answer questions from the public.
