Alameda County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot three pit bulls during an investigation in San Lorenzo Saturday, according to media reports.Â
ABC7 reports that the incident occurred at a home in the area of Via Coches and Via Segundo as deputies were searching for a car theft and drug suspect.

Deputies say four dogs charged at them and began attacking a police canine, forcing them to shoot, according to ABC7.
Two of the dogs died instantly while a third was put down by deputies at the owner’s request, according to ABC7. A fourth pit bull survived after being shot in the paw.

A neighbor told ABC7 that the deputies were “sloppy” in their action.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the case.
