T.J. Maxx’s groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday morning on the corner of Jamison Way and Redwood Road.
Construction for the 25,000 square-foot retail store has started, and is scheduled to open its doors next spring.

“T.J. Maxx is a welcome complement to the variety of options that Castro Village offers shoppers from throughout the region,” said Randy Nahas, owner of Castro Village. “In addition to providing quality products, this new T.J. Maxx store means more jobs and increased tax revenue for our community.”
According to Mike Lambert, Alameda Economic and Civic Development Director, the new store will bring around 50 jobs to the community and $100,000 per year of sales tax revenue.

The addition of T.J. Maxx is the 10th expansion in the Castro Village’s 65 year history.
Castro Village currently has more than 40 shops, restaurants, services and entertainment facilities, as well as office spaces.
Businesses in the Village are excited to welcome T.J. Maxx.
“The noise from the construction is frustrating but that will end,” says Kyle Schmid, one of the owners of Gift Express located in the Village. “It will definitely bring more business to shopping center — maybe even help people know about our shop.”
