Wife, Mother, Animal Lover Dies After Routine Surgery

​Marci Caesare was just 40. She leaves behind two boys ages 12 and 15.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — It was supposed to be routine surgery, but the aftermath is a lifetime void for her husband and sons.

According to a Go Fund Me account set up for her family, Marci Caesare underwent surgery on Dec. 3. She developed a blood clot during recovery, which led to a stroke and brain damage. After spending days on life support, her family made the agonizing decision to remove her from machines.

The wife, mother, sister, and daughter was gone at the age of 40.

The Go Fund Me appeal says, "Marci is at peace and her husband Tony and her family must deal with a much emptier world. Help is requested during this heartbreaking time to help defray the cost of Marci's funeral expenses and provide some much needed relief for Tony and Marci's boys."

Marci grew up in Castro Valley, on Almond Court, and loved animals so much that she made them her life work. She worked at Companion Animal Hospital on Redwood Road and for many years prior, she worked at Redwood Animal Hospital.
