1 Hurt In UCLA Lab Explosion

A person had to be rushed to the hospital following an explosion involving acetone.

WESTWOOD, CA — An explosion at a UCLA laboratory sent one person to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The blast happened at about at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday. It involved acetone and occurred in a lab fume hood, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim was not identified, and his condition remains unknown according to fire department officials.

Fire Department crews were working with UCLA staff to assess the damage and clean up the lab, Bastman said.
