Westfield Century City Mall Burglary Triggers Panic
The mall is not on lockdown, and there is no evidence of any kind of shooting, accordIng to the LAPD.
CENTURY CITY, CA — Police converged on the Westfield Century City mall Thursday afternoon in response to reports of a possible smash and grab burglary at a business inside the mall. On a day when Southern California was shaken by a mass shooting at a Santa Clarita high school, the police presence triggered false rumors and panic regarding a mall shooting.
"There is no evidence of a shooting," said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee. "We are most likely dealing with a smash and grab burglary."
Officers on the scene scoured the mall looking for suspects and have found no evidence of a shooting nor any injuries, Lee reiterated.

Many shoppers were alarmed upon seeing armed officers in the mall, and false reports of an active shooter quickly spread on social media.
There was a scare at the century city mall. People were running out of stores and it went into lockdown. At first it seemed like a gunman, but it turned out to be a robbery instead. A ton of people were running out of stores. I ran back to the office in time
