Fire Damages Westwood Medical Offices

Crews battled for almost 40 minutes to put out the flames at a building housing medical offices in Westwood.

WESTWOOD, CA — An early morning fire damaged a business in Westwood Friday, and authorities are still working to determine what caused the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire on the 1000 block of South Gayley Avenue . Crews were called to the scene just before 7 a.m., and it took firefighters 37 minutes minutes to extinguish the flames, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

"Firefighters conducted a coordinated fire attack, accessing the multi-level roof line and ensuring all fire was rooted out and extinguished with no injuries reported," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. "The building is believed to be medical offices."

Investigators have not determined an estimate for the damage done.
