Grease Fire Clears Out La Cienega Restaurant

A grease trap fire sent smoke billowing from a La Cienega restaurant during the busy lunch hour Thursday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A smoky grease fire cleared out a Beverly Grove restaurant during the busy lunch hour Thursday.

The fire broke out at the Real Food Daily restaurant at 414 North La Cienega Blvd., at about 11:30 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The fire apparently began with a grease trap in the kitchen, said Stewart. It took 31 firefighters about 14 minutes to put out the the flames, she said.

The Los Angeles County Health Department was called to the scene to inspect the damage as required by law, Stewart said.
