Groper Attacks UCLA Student On Campus; Suspect At Large

Police released security footage of the suspect in hope that someone will recognize him.

WESTWOOD, CA — Police Thursday are looking for a man who groped a UCLA student as she walked home Tuesday night.

The sexual battery happened about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday near Covel Commons at 320 De Neve Drive, according to UCLA Police Department Lt. Kevin Kilgore. The suspect was caught on camera fleeing the scene.

"The victim was walking to her residence when the suspect approached her and touched her inappropriately," Kilgore said. "The suspect got into a silver four-door sedan and fled southbound on Young Drive West towards Strathmore Plaza."

According to a campus crime alert, the man grabbed the victim's buttocks. Autorities don't believe the attack is related to the Nov. 27 attack of a staffer who was beaten from behind while walking in a UCLA parking garage in the early morning. Both attacks happened in the 2 o'clock hour, and in both cases, the attackers got away.

The suspect in Tuesday's battery, who had no shirt on, was described as a 23- to 28-year-old man with a thin build and short black, braided hair. He was wearing khaki or gray pants and had tattoos around his torso.
