LAPD Warns of Possible Westwood Demonstration
Online reports indicate the demonstration is planned for Thursday evening.

The Los Angeles Police Department is deploying resources to the West Los Angeles area in response to online reports of a possible demonstration in the Westwood area Thursday evening.
Unconfirmed reports indicate a rally may occur at about 7 p.m., beginning in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue.
The Brentwood Community Council earlier Thursday sent a message to Westwood merchants, business owners and others warning them about the possibility of a gathering likened to a flash mob.
Following is the message sent out by the Community Council:
Dear Westwood friends, merchants, and business owners:
In an abundance of caution, Captain Evangelyn Nathan of West LAPD has asked community leaders to share the information below about a possible disturbance that may take place today in Westwood Village, similar to the "flash mobs" that occurred yesterday in Hollywood.

LAPD, UCPD, SMPD, and other law enforcement agencies are aware of this possible situation, and are taking all necessary steps to maintain a peaceful and lawful situation, and to keep us safe.
Captain Nathan did ask us to advise any businesses or property owners that have surveillance cameras on or in their properties, to please, where possible, direct the cameras toward the front door or windows.

As we have seen from recent events, surveillance tape is an invaluable tool to assist law enforcement in identifying criminal suspects in the event of any crime.
Captain Nathan emphasized that law enforcement is working with the media to get the word out publicly that Westwood and the Westside are well prepared for any situation, and that the public is cooperating with law enforcement to keep all of us safe. It is the hope that this message will act as a strong deterrent to any "knuckleheads" who might be thinking about doing something foolish.
Again, this email is intended to inform you of a possible situation, and not unduly alarm anyone.
However, in an abundance of caution, I am sharing this information with you as we were asked to do by Captain Nathan.
All of us greatly appreciate the brave efforts of our men and women in law enforcement to keep our families, friends, employees, colleagues, and loved ones safe in the City of Angels.
 Sincerely,
 John Heidt
