The Manor Becomes Priciest Home Ever Sold In Los Angeles County

The sale of late TV mogul Aaron Spelling's 100-room mansion shatters the previous real estate record for LA County.

LOS ANGELES, CA — One of the most famous homes in America just set a new real estate record as the most expensive home ever sold in Los Angeles County...and that's after an $80 million price cut!

The Manor, the storied home of the late TV mogul Aaron Spelling, has sold for $120 million after two years of flirting with the market on and off again. Billed as America's largest single family home, it was originally listed in 2016 for a mind-blowing $200 million.

Its current owner, Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone, bought the home for $85 million in 2011, according to the Los Angeles Times, which first reported on the sale. The deal shattered the record set last year with the $110-million sale of Hard Rock Cafe founder Peter Morton's Malibu home, and it dwarfs the $100 million sale of the Playboy Mansion in 2016. It's only one of four homes in Los Angeles County to sell for more than $100,000,000.

Naturally, the mansion has a Hollywood pedigree. Bing Crosby once lived on the property, and the mansion, a French chateau, was completed by Spelling after an epic years-long construction process. It became a 56,500-square-foot monument to one of the most successful producers in TV history. The man behind "The Love Boat," "Charlie's Angels" and "Fantasy Island," built himself a mansion as unreal as his signature shows.

The Manor is one of the largest and grandest private residences in LA. Originally built by entertainment royalty Aaron & Candy Spelling and exquisitely reimagined, the property is sited on nearly 5 flat acres in the coveted Platinum Triangle. The approx. 56,000 SF mansion represents the perfect marriage of visionary design and timeless grandeur. Bordering the renowned LA Country Club and shielded behind gates and hedges, a winding drive leads to a circular motor court with space for 100 cars. A magnificent entry with 30-foot ceilings and a grand double staircase leads to breathtaking living spaces, including a stunning solarium, formal & informal dining, library, family room, state-of-the-art theatre, chef's kitchen, billiards room, bowling alley, gym, wine cellar and beauty salon. Extraordinary grounds include a resort-caliber pool and spa, championship tennis court, vast lawns and beautiful formal gardens. Moments from downtown Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and The Beverly Hills Hotel.
