Brian Weaver: I have been a member of my Westwood building's HOA intermittently since arriving in 2006. I am also a leader of a local fitness group, serving as leader there for over four years.
Patch: What are the important issues facing Westwood and what is your position on them?

Weaver: My biggest interest in Westwood is cleaning up our parks and streets. We have a growing problem with vagrancy and loitering by homeless populations. I feel that there is more that we can do to help those that need help and clean up the parks and sidewalks. These issues have caused crime to rise in Westwood recently, and we need to act to keep our public areas clean and safe for the families that live here.
Patch: What Westwood Neighborhood Council decisions have you agreed with? What, if anything, would you do differently?
Weaver: So far, I am thrilled to see the council up and going. My biggest applause is the transparency of the council in matters via the WWNC website, Facebook page, L.A. Times articles, and other means of communication to the people about business.
Patch: In your opinion, what role should the Westwood Neighborhood Council play in the community?
Weaver: Helping to serve the community's needs at the local level. Both for the business owners who generate revenue, but also for the private citizens who live here.
Patch: What's one thing most constituents don't know about you?
Weaver: I run a small production and film consulting service from Westwood. Our area (Westwood) is not generally thought of as an area of entertainment production; usually that is left more to the Westside and beyond. As anyone in "the business" knows, production is a complex entity requiring equally complex management skills. This kind of understanding lends itself to to the role of serving on the council.
Patch: Why did you decide to run for a seat on the Westwood Neighborhood Council? What qualifications do you have to represent your community?
Weaver: I am running for Westwood Neighborhood Council because I think together we can make Westwood a better place to live. I have a strong desire to take our already wonderful neighborhood, and help to improve it.
My qualifications for candidacy include years of service on my HOA, and I am also a small business owner (and employer), living in Westwood. I have the proven ability to get projects completed, guide teams of people through projects, and make important decisions as a leader.
