The Scoop On Finding A Short-Term Rental

If you're looking for a short-term apartment in Los Angeles, here are some tips on how you can find one.

Short-term rentals have become a hot topic in the real estate industry and are becoming increasingly popular with renters. In fact, as of April 2020 Google Trends reported a surge in searches for short term rentals. With a traditional lease ranging from six months to a year, it’s easy to see why more people are searching for a flexible lease. Whether you are in-between homes, traveling for work, or want to try out a new neighborhood, life doesn’t always fit into a 6-month block of time and sometimes you need an apartment for rent for one month or longer.
If you’re looking for a short-term apartment in Los Angeles, here are some tips on how you can find one.
Narrow Your Search
Get specific with what you want. Whether you’re looking on a search engine or internet listing website, make sure you enter the phrase ‘short-term rental’ into the search field. A lot of short-term apartments come fully furnished, which you can also include in your search. Other helpful search terms are ‘month-to-month lease’ and ‘furnished apartments’.
Choose Your Location
Like any other apartment, location is very important so you should choose one that works best for you. Research the area and see if you enjoy activities nearby. Also, check the distance and commute time that it takes to get to work. If traffic is light in the area, you can expand your search and liver farther away from the office. The benefit of a short-term rental is that even if you end up liking another neighborhood more than your current one, you have the flexibility to move in a shorter period of time.
Select Amenities
Since you’ll be staying in this apartment for a short period of time your amenity preferences may be different than from what you normally choose. Some people want a short-term apartment simply for convenience and are not willing to pay more for additional perks. Others are looking for a more luxurious stay and may want to enjoy a rooftop lounge, on-site fitness center, or 24-concierge for a few months. Lastly, depending on the time of year, certain amenities may become more attractive during specific seasons. For example, if you’re looking for a short-term rental in Los Angeles you may enjoy that outdoor spa more during the winter when it’s too cool to head to the beach.
