Streets on West LA Will Be Reopened in Social Distancing Efforts

Stay-at-home measures are slowly being lifted and California is beginning to reopen.

Stay-at-home measures are slowly being lifted and California is beginning to reopen. As of May 25, retail guidance that is already in place for certain counties now applies statewide, allowing Los Angeles stores to reopen with approval from the county. While more people are heading outside of their home, some have reported difficulty in maintaining a safe social distance on crowded walkways and sidewalks. That’s where this novel Slow Streets LA program has come in.

Mayor Garcetti has enacted the program, where certain residential streets will remain closed to incoming traffic, to allow people to maintain better social distance. Two streets in West LA have already been closed off as part of the program. Parts of Sawtelle Boulevard will experience closures, meaning that many residents on the Westside may have an opportunity to get out of their West LA apartments and enjoy the fresh air.

As California is slowly beginning to reopen, these measures will give residents a sense of normalcy, while keeping citizens safe.
