UCLA Medical Center Named Top Hospital in Western U.S.

The facility is ranked fifth in the country overall, according to a U.S. News & World Report survey.

The ranked fifth among the nation's hospitals in a survey released this week by U.S. News & World Report.

Seventeen hospitals were named to the publication's honor roll based on a variety of factors, including professional reputation, patient satisfaction, volume of patients, death rates and evaluation of medical specialties. To see a list of the hospitals and ranking criteria, click here.

Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center was also named the best hospital in the Western United States and the best in Los Angeles. The UCLA Health System's Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital was ranked eighth in Los Angeles and the Santa Monica–UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital was ranked 15th in Los Angeles.

"This honor confirms, once again, that the UCLA Health System is one of the premier health care providers in the nation," said Dr. A. Eugene Washington, UCLA vice chancellor for health sciences and dean of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. "We take tremendous pride in receiving this prestigious recognition of our high quality, exemplary patient-centered care. I commend and congratulate each member of our UCLA Health System team for putting patients first and helping us earn this distinction."

Hospitals were also ranked by medical specialty. The U.S. News & World Report rankings will be published Aug. 30 in a "Best Hospitals" guidebook.
