Westwood Burglar Caught On Tape

Police are asking for help identifying a man who burglarized a Westside car and was caught on tape committing identity theft, police say.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police Tuesday released video of a man suspected in a vehicle burglary and subsequent identity theft in the West Los Angeles area.

On Dec. 2, between 11:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., the suspect smashed the window of a vehicle in a parking garage near the 1300 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Credit and gift cards stolen during this vehicle burglary were used within hours of the crime at businesses in Los Angeles and Menifee," according to a police statement.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 35 to 45 years old, 5-feet-9 inches tall, about 170 pounds with black hair, a goatee and a tattoo on his right hand. He wore a gold chain around his neck, a blue shirt, gray sweater and black pants.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information that could help investigators identify and locate him was urged to call (310) 444-1503 to speak with detectives Pearce or Malcuit.
