Chalk It Up Festival Returns To Cerritos Towne Center

The Chalk It Up Festival is returning to Cerritos Towne Center for a day of art and fun for the entire family. Instead of using canvases, renowned chalk artists from Southern California
will be looking to the ground and transforming concrete pavement into vibrant and interactive works of art.

Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 300 to watch artists as they created their momentary masterpieces. This year, the festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. Admission to the festival is free. Twelve local artists will spend hours crafting their intricate renderings, which will be 2D and 3D in nature. Featured 3D chalk artists include Ian & Lea Rankin, Lorelle Miller, Willie Zin and Lysa Ashley, while 2D artists include Lesley Perdomo, Oscar De Leon Salcaja, Valerie Michelle Cortez, Zoila Cobian, Shuji Nishimura, Shelsea Flores and Monica Thaller.

“We had such a great response from the hundreds who came last year – it was so fun to watch people posing for pictures with all the chalk art,” said Shannon Campbell, a marketing director for Vestar. “The level of artistry achieved with chalk is astounding and it’s something you really have to experience in person.”

Guests are encouraged to interact with the artists and artworks during the event and are invited to take photos and selfies. In addition to the chalk art on display, there will be a separate area for children to create their own chalk art as well as a sun visor decorating station, along with face-painting and a glitter tattoo artist, plus a live DJ for entertainment, all free.

The event will be held Edwards Stadium 10 Courtyard near Starbucks. Cerritos Towne Center is located at 12731 Towne Center Dr., Cerritos, CA 90703.
