CA Fires Latest: More Deaths; New Blaze In Southern California
A blaze that erupted Tuesday night in Rialto quickly grew to 147 acres by dawn. Meanwhile, more bodies are found in the Camp Fire aftermath.

The death toll continued to rise Wednesday with 59 fatalities now reported in California as more than 9,300 firefighters worked around the clock to contain massive blazes fueled by strong winds and low humidity. In Southern California, a new fire sparked in Rialto, threatening nearby communities where residents chose to self-evacuate.

The largest blaze remained the Camp Fire, which sparked Thursday morning in Paradise. Named the deadliest and most destructive fire in recorded state history, a record 56 people have died but dozens more have been reported missing. The fire burned more than 135,000 acres with firefighters hopeful to contain the blaze by month's end.

The Woolsey Fire, which also sparked Thursday in Ventura County before making its way to star-studded Malibu, has killed three people and burned hundreds of structures. As of Wednesday morning, the fire burned nearly 100,000 acres and was just 47 percent contained.
The most recent fire is the Sierra Fire, which erupted late Tuesday in Rialto. By Wednesday morning, firefighters were battling a 147-acre blaze fueled by 50 miles-per-hour winds. Fire officials said the wildfire was 75 percent contained by dawn.
