California Mom, Grandma Charged After Toddler Eats Marijuana
The child was hospitalized after eating marijuana gummies, authorities said.

OROVILLE, CA -- A California mother and grandmother were charged with child abuse this month after a toddler was hospitalized after apparently eating marijuana gummies.
Maneeka Patterson, 21, and her mother-in-law, Patricia Medina, 57, were charged with a felony count of child abuse likely to produce great bodily harm or death, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey announced.
Ramsey said Oroville police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive 2-year-old on June 15. The child was then transported to an area hospital where doctors confirmed the child had a high amount of THC in her system.

The child recovered after her hospitalization, Ramsey said.
An investigation showed Patterson, who has two other children, was living in the same household as Medina, who had marijuana edibles, including cookies and gummies, in her bedroom, Ramsey said.
