Chico Police Department: Stabbing

The suspect in the stabbing was identified as Tyler Bonn Roper
(37 years old). On April 4, 2021 at about 9:15 p.m., Roper was
arrested in the City of Oroville by the Oroville Police
Department. Roper was booked into the Butte County Jail for a
violation of section 245(a)(1) PC-Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The victim of the stabbing is expected to survive.

On April 4th at 1255 a.m., the Chico Police Dispatch Center
received a 911 call of a stabbing which had occurred behind the
Raley’s Grocery Store on W. East Avenue in Chico. Multiple Chico
Police Officers arrived on the scene within two minutes and
determined the incident actually occurred in the Lindo Channel,
south of Mission Ranch Blvd. The victim was located and
transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with a
life-threatening stab wound to the abdomen.
An extensive area check was conducted by officers at the scene
but the suspect was not located.

This incident is actively being investigated by the Chico Police
Department. What is known is that the victim (identification
withheld) and the suspect are both Transient. Both subjects were
involved in an altercation just prior to the incident.
