OROVILLE, CA — Police issued an arrest warrant Friday for 29-year-old woman accused of embezzling more than $63,000 from an elderly survivor of the Camp Fire.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said in a news release it was seeking the whereabouts of Brenda Rose Asbury, after learning in July that she had embezzled $63,100 from a 75-year-old survivor of the fire. Asbury is accused of elder abuse, embezzlement, and grand theft.

The money was part of an insurance settlement that the survivor had received after losing a home in the fire. The deadly blaze last November killed 86 people and destroyed more than 13,900 homes.
