2 Citrus Heights Cardrooms May Relocate

Two Citrus Heights cardroom casinos — Phoenix Sports Bar & Casino and Lucky Derby Casino — may be relocating into a larger space on Antelope Road. 

Kings Casino, LLC purchased both cardrooms and plans to file applications with the state in order to relocate both cardrooms to a new location at 6510 Antelope Road and 6508 Antelope Road. The two businesses will operate separately but within the same building, according to city documents, divided by interior glass walls.

In addition to the cardrooms, the location will also house a restaurant and bar, open to everyone. 

Between 250 and 300 employees will work at the cardroom, most of whom will work at the restaurant and bar. That's about 50 percent more employees than currently, according to city documents. 

The relocation plan came before the Citrus Heights Planning Commission recently where they weighed the pros and cons of the project. Among to pros they found were job creation, bringing life back to the Antelope Crossing center and added security to the area. However, cons included parking, impact to nearby businesses and maintenance to the shopping center entrance. 

Citrus Heights City Council will discuss the project at the May 23 meeting at 7 p.m. The full agenda is available here.
