CHP to Hold Teen Driving Class Aug. 29

Sacramento area teens can get an up-close look at the dangers of driving at two CHP-hosted classes Aug. 29 and Sept. 18 in Sacramento. 

The goal of the free classes is to reduce the number of teen driving-related injuries and deaths on the roads, according to a press release. 

"The leading cause of death for Americans 15-20 years old is motor vehicle collisions," according to the release. 

The Start Smart Class is geared toward new and future licensed teen drivers between the ages of 15 and 19, along with their parents. 

According to the release, "the Start Smart class will cover collision avoidance techniques, driver responsibility, collision trends,distracted driving laws, alcohol related driving laws and the provisional license process. The program also offers an opportunity for new drivers and parents/guardians to ask CHP Officers clarifying questions. The class incorporates videos and classroom discussion."
